The rules of the Arizona Supreme Court allow out-of-state or retired attorneys to perform legal work as a volunteer, as long as that work is performed through an approved, non-profit legal service organization. Established by PPP inin collaboration with numerous community stakeholders, the Pima County Teen Court PCTC is a sentencing option for year-old delinquent youths arrested for first, second, and third-time misdemeanors who have pled guilty. Now the longest running program in Roosevelt School District, this innovative youth program promotes academics, civic service and Teen Court as an alternative form of discipline for schools and the courts. If the juvenile acknowledges responsibility for the delinquent or incorrigible act, the juvenile probation officer shall require that the juvenile comply with one or more of a series of options. Neal within the Roosevelt District, there are hundreds of students participating in her Teen Court Program. The Juvenile Diversion Services Fund provides funding for programs to assist juveniles on Diversion to meet the terms of their Diversion agreement, enhance accountability, provide community safety, enhance skill development and change behavior. Teens make friends, complete community service, learn new skills, get extra credit for a class, and have fun when they volunteer for Teen Court.
